I’ve never been one to sit behind my computer, merrily writing blogs, maintaining websites or spending countless hours on social networking sites. I’m more of a “get out there and do it” kinda guy. I have very few photos of the countless Ironman races, triathlons, duathlons, bike races, running races, distance swims, long paddles and all kinds of other stuff I’ve done.

I’d rather spend my time learning as much as I can in order to help the athletes I coach than on writing endless reams of copy to impress the masses. I’d rather be out there riding my bike than learning how to code a pretty website.

Then every now and then I think that it might just be a good idea to share some of this stuff a little more widely. And that’s the purpose of this blog and the stuff that will follow.

It won’t be updated daily, I’m not that organised. But when I do write, it’ll be because I feel I have soomething to say.

Finally, I will write what I think. You may not agree with me, that’s your right as a human being. But I’d ask that you read it in the spirit of that (misattributed) quote of Voltaire:

“I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend, to the death, your right to say it.”
